Muriel Waugh is a chemistry professor that makes chemistry fun with video lessons and activities that are sure to stimulate interest in science and gives students a "can do" confidence. After grad school, she worked in industry prior to becoming an instructor. She was a quality control chemist for Baxter Travenol Pharmaceutical and a research chemist at Nalco Chemical Company. She created new chemicals as well as obtained FDA Approval for other chemicals. In addition, she worked as a regional manager and then started her own medical supply company.  Regardless of her past industrial experiences, her passion lies with teaching.

Now this award winning college instructor opens the door to success for many nontraditional students. She has been teaching chemistry since 1994 and has worked at UCLA, Santa Monica College, Pierce College as well as other institutions in the Los Angeles area. She also served as the Coordinator of the SMC Chemistry 10 Program.  In 2014, she started the award winning Chem Bootcamp. Furthermore, prior to her college position, she was the science department chair of a local high school. There she taught biology, math, AP chemisty as well as integrated science.
